This assignment was a straightforward walkway repair. Over decades of use and exposure, the mortar joints crack and loosen, subjecting the foundation to the elements.
Over time, the freeze/thaw cycle of Winter breaks up the mortar and creates an uneven pathway, with loose stone, mortar chips, potentially dangerous trip hazards and overall ugliness. We used the existing stone and rebuilt the walkway starting at the foundation; with an appropriate depth of crushed limestone, then set the stone on a bed of concrete and filled the joints with mortar.
